Routinely schedule oral exams and hygiene cleanings offered by the dentists at Munroe Dental can help you to prevent any dental health issues from emerging in your mouth.
Oral Examinations
Routine oral examinations, accompanied by cleanings and polishings, give our dentists the chance to identify oral health issues as they are just starting to develop and create appropriate treatment plans.
During your exam, your dentist will take a close look at the health of your teeth, gums, jaw and bite. Exams may also include dental X-rays, an oral cancer screening and other diagnostic procedures.
Oral Health Care at Home
In order to keep your smile healthy between appointment with your dentist, it is important that you brush your teeth at least twice a day for two minutes at a time and floss once each day.
If you aren't sure about how to structure your home care routine for your oral hygiene and long-term health, our dentists will be happy to walk you through our recommended habits, including how often to brush and floss, supplemental products and foods that can support your oral health, and even what times of day can be the most helpful for brushing and flossing.
Dental Hygiene Cleaning
Before or after your exam, your dental hygienist will perform a deep cleaning of your teeth and gums to prevent and treat disease.
To start, your dental hygienist will use a scaler in order to remove any plaque and tartar buildup. They will then use coarse toothpaste and a polisher to remove any leftover plaque or stains on your teeth and finally, they will thoroughly floss your teeth and gums.
Fluoride Treatment
If you or your child has a high risk of tooth decay, your dentist may also recommend a fluoride treatment. Fluoride is a natural mineral that can help to rebuild the minerals in your tooth enamel to prevent or reverse tooth decay.
